Thunderbird 78にアップデート後アドオンが動作しない場合の対処

Thunderbird 78にアップデートして、アドオンもThunderbird 78対応版にアップデートしたのに、動かないという報告をもらっています。

再現できていないため原因がわからず、手を打てていない状況ですが、アドオンの再インストールなどで改善する方が多いようです。

アドオンが動かない、設定が保存されないなどがある方は、以下を試してみてください。Check and Send、EnForward、Tag Popupでうまくいったという報告をもらっています。

1. アドオンをOFF/ONする

アドオンマネージャで、動作がおかしいアドオンのトグルボタン(スイッチ)をOFFにしてから、再度ONにしてみてください。運が良ければ、これだけでなおることがあるようです。

2. アドオンを再インストールする

アドオンのOFF/ONでも治らない場合は、再インストールをしてみてください。以下の手順で、必ず一度削除してから、インストールするようにしてください。（上書きはNG）

アドオンマネージャで、アドオンの「・・・」ボタンから削除を選んだあと、アドオンマネージャのタブを閉じてください。これで、アドオンが削除されます。再度アドオンマネージャを開いて、先ほど削除したアドオンが消えていることを確認してください。

次に、アドオンマネージャの「アドオンを探す」のところに、アドオン名を入れて検索してしてください。新しいタブに検索結果がでてくるので、「Thunderbirdへ追加」ボタンを押して、インストールしてください。最後に、Thunderbirdを再起動してください。

再インストールした場合は、設定もクリアされてデフォルト値に戻るので、再度設定してください。大部分の方は、設定すらまともにできない状態だと思うので、クリアされても影響はないかと思っています。

他のアドオン作者さんでも、似たような状況が起きているようで、もしかしたら、アドオンではなくてThunderbirdの設定読み出しのところに不具合があるのかもしれません。

Check and Sendをインストールしたのですが、アドオンが動作しません。
というか、オプションが保存されないので、何か根本的なところに問題がありそうです。
アドオンのオン・オフ、再インストールでも変わらずです。

他のTB78対応のアドオンも動作しません。

再インストール効かなかったですか。初めてのパターンです。
エラーメッセージが出ているなど、他にも情報があったらお願いします。

他アドオンもダメということなので、Thunderbird側の問題かもしれないです。

TBもアンインストールし、ベータ版の82.0b3を入れて試してもだめでした。
以下、Check and Sendのオプションの「すべてのアドレスをポップアップする」にチェックを入れて閉じ、再びオプションを開いてチェックが外れていることを確認したときのエラーです。

ログありがとうございます。
オプションタブで動いているスクリプトと、バックグラウンドで動いているスクリプトとの通信がうまくいっていなさそうです。

以下のThunderbirdのバグにあたっているかもしれないので、ここに書かれているワークアラウンドを試しに実装してみます。

ありがとうございます。
私なりに設定エディタでアドオンで怪しそうな設定を変えたり削除したりしたのですが、効果がありませんでした。
試しに新しいプロファイルを作成してアドオンをインストールしてみましたがアドオンが動作しなかったのでもうわけが分からなくなりました。
問題なく動作している方もいるようなので、PC依存ということなのでしょうか。。。

いろいろ試していただいてすみません。新プロファイルでもダメなんですね。

環境依存なのか、正直つかめていません。

なお、Thunderbird 78から設定保存の仕方が変わっているので、設定エディタでは変更できないです。Thunderbird 68版が使っていた設定が残っていても、使っていません。

また別の可能性を考えてみますので、お付き合いいただけると助かります。

ちなみに、2.0.15a2とa3の違いは、宛名チェックにあった不具合を直しているだけで、
設定が保存されない問題には関係ないです。

こちらこそ、無理言って申し訳ございません。
アドオンが使えないとはっきり言って仕事にならないのでどうしたものかと。。。
一度空きPCがあるので、Windowsを再セットアップした後、TBだけ入れて
どうなるか試してみようかと思います。

今回は直したわけではなく、デバッグ用のコードを入れただけです。
[CAS DEBUG] XXXXX
というログがでていたら、それももれなく教えてください。

また、オプションの一番上に、「Reload」というボタンを置いています。
これを押したら設定が保存できるようにならないか試してみてください。

ご確認ありがとうございます。Thunderbird側の問題のようです。
アドオン側では対処できなさそうなので、別の方法で実装してみました。

TB側の問題ですか。。

v2.0.15a6インストールしましたが、ボタンなどのコントロールは、表示していますが、文字を表示していません。
ちなみにボタンの設定を変えてみましたが、保存はできていませんでした。

ご確認ありがとうございます。
スクリプト間の通信が全く許されない感じですね…

Thunderbirdを設定をどこか変えていたり、セキュリティソフトの影響が
あったりしないでしょうか？

別のやり方を考えてみますが、打つ手がなくなってきているので、
もしかしたら無理かもしれないです。

68系の時は、問題なくアドオンは動作していました。
最新の78にバージョンアップしたらまったくアドオンが動かなくなりました。
TBの設定は、最近は変えていません。
設定を疑うとすればどのあたりを見ればよいか心当たりありませんか。

確認ありがとうございます。全くダメですね…

いまエラーが出ている部分は、差出人情報を取得するところなのですが、プロセス間の通信で差出人データを渡せていません。そこで、通信に失敗した場合は、データを設定に保存して、それを読み出すやり方にしてみたのが2.0.15a7なのですが、これもできていないようです。

なので、このエラーの部分を回避したところで、そもそも設定を保存するAPIが使えず、デフォルトでしか動かないことになります。

会社のルールでアドオン使用が禁止されているとかはないでしょうか？
正直それくらいしか思いつきません。
「security.sandbox.content.level」で、セキュリティのレベルを変えられるようなのですが、ここの値が厳しくなっていたりしないでしょうか？
私は0に設定されていました。

また、デフォルト設定では、必ずポップアップが出るようになっています。
設定はいじらず、メール送信してみたときにポップアップは出るでしょうか？
この部分にも同様の通信があり、設定(アドオンマネージャ)だけの問題なのか、
そもそも通信がダメなのか切り分けがしたいです。

ポップアップは、出ません。オプションが保存できないだけでなく、アドオン
がまったく動いていないように思います。
他のアドオンも同様に設定も保存できないし、そもそも動いていないです。

うーん。わかんないですね。何か手掛かりがあればいいんですが。

引き続き考えてみますが、今回でいくつか直したほうがよいものが

当方，TB78.3.1@CentOS8-64bit ですが同じ症状です．
これまで大変ありがたく使用しておりましたが，TB78へのアップデートで動作しなくなり困っておりました．
別の記事で「**storage**」に設定が保存されると拝見しましたが，フォルダが作成されず，当方の環境のせいかと思い，いろいろと情報を探していてこちらを見つけました．

環境違いの可能性を考えています。

・「extensions.webextensions.background-delayed-startup」がtrueになっていないでしょうか？
・このほかに「webextensions」が含まれた設定で、初期設定値から変わっているものはないでしょうか？
・プロファイル名やパスに2バイト文字や%などの記号は入っているでしょうか？
・プロファイルが、別ドライブやネットワークドライブに置かれているでしょうか？

特に問題はなさそうですね。私も同じ条件です。

ちなみにですが、単にThunderbirdを立ち上げただけ（オプションも開かない）の状態で、なにかエラーは出ていないでしょうか？
私の環境では、以下が出るのですが、これ以外のものが出ていたら教えていただきたいです。

Thunderbirdの起動時にCheck and Sendのメインのプログラムがロードされるのですが、これがされていないような気がしています。

Thunderbirdのプロセスが完全に終了していないので、エラーコンソールも含めて、
すべて終了させてください。

そのあと、Thunderbirdを立ち上げてから、エラーコンソールを開いてください。
エラーコンソールを開いていない間のログも、ちゃんと表示されます。

設定エディタで、extensions.blocklist.enabled を false にして、Thunderbirdを再起動したらどうでしょうか？

のあたりが、私のログにはない部分で、禁止アドオンのリストが取得できないと、
全アドオンを禁止してしまう動きになっていないかなぁと。

会社のネットワークなどで、外部へのアクセス制限されていて、リストがとれないというのは、普通にありそうですし。

ベータ版をお使いでしたか…
ベータ版はテストができていません。

これまでのログは、すべてベータ版でしょうか？(バージョンアップはされていると思いますが)
また、Thunderbird 78.5.0でも、同様に動かないのでしょうか？

84.0b2 (64 ビット)を新規プロファイルで試してみました。

私の環境でも、通信に失敗するエラーが出るようになりましたが、
そのあとのリカバリ処理([CAS_DEBUG] Call background function directlyのところ)が
うまくいって、設定ができました。

完全な再現にはいかず、微妙な結果です…

はい、ベータ版です。
Thunderbird 78ですべてのアドオンがまったく動かなくなったので、最新のβ版を試したがまったく変化なく動かず、その後、78に戻そうとするとプロファイルが新しいので戻せないみたいな警告で出てそのまま使っているという状態です。ほんとダメ元で68に戻そうかと思ってます。。。

TB78に戻すときは、「--allow-downgrade」をオプションにつけてTB78を起動すれば警告は出ません。
TB68に戻すときも同様です。TB68はセキュリティの問題が出ても、もう直されないと思うので、ちょっと怖いですが。

私と設定が異なる部分もありますが、関係はなさそうです。

お世話になります。
Thunderbirdを78にバージョンアップをしてから、
Thunderbird起動後に、必ず Check and Send を off その後 on にしないと有効に動作しなかったのですが、最近は、off -> on しなくても正常動作するようになりました。
何の影響で正常動作になったのか特定はできませんが。
環境
Windows 10 Pro バージョン 20H2
Thunderbird 78.12.0 (32ビット)
Check and Send バージョン 2.0.18

手が打てないままThunderbird 91がでてしまいました。

Thunderbird 91では、マルチプロセスが有効になり、アドオンの動作が安定する可能性がありますので、一度試してみてください。

無事、アドオンが動作しました。

PC置き換えがあり、新しいPCにThunderbirdをインストールし、
既存のプロファイルをコピーしましたが、アドオンが動作せず。

ということは、プロファイルに問題があると思い、新しいプロファイル
を作成し、アドオンを入れると無事アドオンが動作。
その後、メールのみコピーして、前とほぼ同じ環境にできました。
アドオンが動かない人は、一度プロファイルを新しく作り直して
みるのもよいと思います。
